While we're on the subject, what would I need to look for regarding the need to have "A Arms" rebuilt? One time someone wrote "if the lower trunion cotter pin won't drop in all the way, the A Arm bushings are worn and need replaced". Is that the tell tale sign to look for?

No it's any movement in the kingpin where it attached to the fulcrum pin. Any fire /aft movement shows wear on the metal bushings on the end of the wishbones. That's your wear point. There is a detailed how to rebuild thread on a Spridget that someone will post. And a SawZall is your friend in getting it apart. Cheaper to replace wishbones than replacing metal bushings.

The best thing I ever did was send my spindles in to Peter C at WWAP of Madison and buy all new components. I fooled with mine for awhile and found that the cost and aggravation just wasn't worth it. It was one of the more costlier items I bought, but well worth the money.

I did replace the Bushings in a set of 1971 A-Arms I got for Disc Brake Conversion about 2 1/2 years ago. $250 about from AH Spares. With new pricing on A-Arms, I've seen on sale as low as $99.95 a side no longer cost effective to replace the Bushings. Plus those A Arms come with a new Fulcrum Pin IIRC.

Jim, I bought several sets of the replacement bushings for the A arms a few years ago from Winners Circle and though I don't remember what they cost it was cheap compared to new A arms. Of course the $99 dollar ones weren't around then and I would probably go that route now after I use up the bushings I have. Believe I'v still got one set....somewhere....
