Midget 50th Celebration

Another thought, where ever the event is held, it needs to be promoted as an event for all makes of spridgets in all conditions. Sometimes I think people are "put off" going to an event because they view it as something for people who have "really nice" cars. In reality, there were few "show" cars at the LotO. I'm glad that there were some extremely nice examples there, but most were weekend fun cars that were driven.

Checked with wife Hap. We will come God willing. That's the Florida panhandle.

Euro attracts all kinds, it not uncommon for us to have many 6 fiquired cars, as well as MGB in primer with a "Got Rust" decal (no kidding) We do attract a lot of the folks that do Amelia Island and Hilton Head Concourse, but Euro is billed as a "fun" event, and every one is welcomed from daily driver to trailer queens. We do not do concourse judging, it's all done by your peers in your class. We bill Euro as Festival, and fundraiser for The American Red Cross, we normally get few thousand spectators as well, have food court, vendors tents and live band.

If Spridgets are to be the featured make at Euro, it would be far from a red headed step child, front row billing on the show field is what feature marks get, the very best examples of the feature mark are parked on the flag circle in fornt of the Zentrum, the artist's poster is dedicated to the featured make, the keynote speaker at the banquet is a whos-whos involved with the featrure make, and we do feature make t-shirts, as well, unless a national club attends and wants to do the shirts.

Living in the "middle" I'm not sure which way I would go, east or west, but I really enjoyed LotO last year because it was all Spridgets. I get tired of being the "red headed stepchild" at the MG as well as Healey events, it was nice to have an event all of our own for once. Because of that I would more likely drive farther to attend an all Spridget event than I would to attend an existing event where Spridgets are the featured Marque, I can do that right here in KC.
I met a lot of new friends at LotO, mostly from the east or southeast, so that would play a major factor in my decision, but I'd like to go west just to be able to visit with the fine folks out that way as well. It's just that Nevada in June sounds a bit warm and the Midget is a pretty warm car to travel in at any time other than the dead of winter.
I know that's of little help in choosing a site, just try to make it an all Spridget event anywhere and I'd be more pleased.
Bill, I agree with you...only reason I went to LotO was the nature of the event - &, though the distance was a bit long, it was easily driveable in a day....if they'd chosen a middle of the country like the folks who did LotO did, they'd get a cross-section of the entire country & Canada.....but, 2,000+ miles to a car show? No way!

JUst a quick note, I spent a good bit of time with the chairman of Euro yesterday, and we have a baord meeting this Sunday, looks pretty positive, that we going to move towrds making the Midget the featured make for 2011, best thing we got going for us is the time span is right, we planned Morgan owners three years in advance. We hope to work with Midget Sprite club, but if that doesn't work out, we'll still proceed, and paln on having a great event. This is a long way off, but I'll keep you all in the loop as things happen.

thanks Hap

Goog go - I'd rather come to one closer to home...2011, if I'm still kicking, we'll make (heck, if Jack Laird can come, so can I!).

I will be there, will put Tony in the back seat with his cane.

Well Hap, looks like you have the "geezer" brigade signed on so I guess I'll have to start making plans as well. If I can make it to Durham next June for the British V8 meet I can certainly make it to Euro in 2011.
