An unexpected exercise in frustration! Is there a trick to getting this rascal installed? It was bought from TRF, kinda looks like it needs some eXtreme modification to get it to fit. Need some suggestions here.

I helped a buddy with this a few years ago. I remember he had to install the bracket/hanger to the exhaust pipe without the muffler attached and then attach the muffler. Even then, it was a real effort.
 
The center support for the exhaust/muffler pipe from the TR4 is a vast improvement over the original one designed and installed on the sidescreen TRs. I put in one in 1990. Works like a charm.

Thats kinda what I suspected. Since I have one and its brand new, I guess I will fight it out today. I have a 24 item check list on things to be done before I put the body on and thats one of them. If it becomes too bearish I'll go Don's route.

The next time (say in 5 or 25 years from now) you have to pull out your gearbox, that support will still be there and will still be in the way. The TR4 support is held by one of the gearbox mounting bolts and is only on one side. When I have to pull my gearbox, I remove the rear tranny mounting bolts and that muffler/pipe bracket comes out at the same time.
 
Don, your talking about the items in the Moss catalog, page16 numbered 16 and 17, right? If so I can see that is a mod I need to make. If it is, I will order them forth with.
