Michael Jackson is dead at age 50

When Dianna died, Mother Theresa died a couple days later. On the news, it was all Dianna all the time, 24/7, with an occasional "oh, and by the way Mother Theresa also died." Mother Theresa, who literally gave up a life of riches to completely and totally dedicate herself and her life to helping the poor, barely got mentioned compared to the Pop Icon Dianna. Yesterday there was something VERY important going on in the news, but it got minimal coverage because all of the networks were obsessing over Michael Jackson. I'm sorry....I don't mean to sound unsympathetic - I really do feel bad for the Jackson family, especially the kids, but I think our Pop Culture has caused our priorities to become completely screwed up. He was a pop singer. He had lots of fans. He died, like all of us will eventually.

We get very little Stateside news. What was important happening?

We did not even turn on the TV because no real news
was being broadcast.

great respect,

Dale, it doesn't matter what it was - that's not my point. The moon could have fallen out of orbit and the lead story still would have been Michael Jackson. It's as bad as when Anna Nichol Smith died and that was ll we heard about for months!

Dale, you can get the news the same way I do. Our local "news" radio station is lousy at best, and most of the time can't be heard. The paper is horrible and I stopped getting it a long time ago. Now I just use the internet. CNN, FOX, MSNBC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and just about every newspaper in America are online.

Speaking of orbits and the moon, nobody talked about it much but we launched a mission to the moon a little over a week ago. The satellite(s) they launched went into orbit on Tuesday on a mapping and research mission.
