Miata seats

Hi All,

I just got a lead on some used Miata seats, and as the ones in the TR6 are very tired I'd like to swap them out. I know this has been done before. Is there a link or procedure to which you can point me to make this install easy and flawless?

Thanks!

Actually Jack Drews (vinttr4@geneseo.net) is producing a kit for installing Miata seats in a TR6. Contact him directly for more info. I hope he doesn't mind my posting the content of his email below.

"Because of the high level of interest on the Triumph lists, I will be offering a kit that makes the conversion really easy. The pre-production run is complete, parts are powder coated, and sample parts are on their way to two owners for trial installation. The kit will include adapter brackets and hardware necessary for the installation. Price for the kit will be $59.95. The kit should be available for sale in a couple of weeks."

Thanks Bob. I got no answer from the guy who was selling them on eBay a while back. He may have been in England, but he never even returned an answer to my emails, either yea or nay about making more.

Yeah, Simon. That's the article and he's the guy who never answered my email(s) or PM's through eBay.

No Bobby, I'm referring to the other guy from the UK called Simon who sells on eBay, not Uncle Jack.

Now where are these seat brackets that he makes? I'm a little dense today, because I can't see the link.

when I still had my 6 I bought the brackets from Simon in the UK. It took awhile for him to respond. The main key to buying these brackets was- How important is it too you that you don't drill extra holes in the floor for the Miata seats? If it is, the brackets are designed to fit in the standard TR6 mounting holes. If this is not important you can fabricate your own. I want to say I paid about $80-$100 for Simon's brackets a year and a half ago. His ebay UK user name is simonabh.

I have been searching for his user name and got his email from another source, but he just doesn't answer. I really am interested in his project, but would like to know when he feels that they will be available again.

Could you PM me with any email address that you may have for him?

Thanks,

Paul
Are you mainly interested in brackets? If so, I could have some more produced. Is anyone else interested.

Sorry no email for him ( SIMONABH). He has a friend in Florida who actually had the brackets and shipped them to me.

Norton,

Yes, I am interested if they are the same as Simon's and don't require any new hole drilling in the floors.

I'm also interested, but as I said I have a lead on seats and do not presently have them. A guy I work with wrecked his '93 Miata and is stripping it before it goes to the junk yard...How much would the brackets be?

Paul:

If you are still interested in the seat brackets from Simon his email is: simonblackburn@ic24.net he has a friend in Orlando FL, my son goes to University there and picked them up, if he can't ship them to you I can get them picked-up and sent to you when my son goes back in August. By the way I used the brackets except for the driver side front in order to keep the seat as low as the originals and it worked fine if you space between the seat pan and the seat slide (two bolts will do fine, only one per side) hope this helps.

Thanks Mike. I sent him an email and then looked and saw that was the email address that I got through the TR Register and Google back in June. He never answered that email, so hopefully, he'll answer this one.

Thanks!

Well, I might be interested Mark. Just to have them on hand.
Did you ever get a chance to ask your friend if he has any more seats or has a connection to some?
