Miata Seat Update
It's been a while since I had anything new on this, but there is progress at the upholstery shop and on my end. I made up the harnesses to connect to the seat harnesses, which will go to the radio outputs for the rear speakers. After talking with BobbyD and sharing a few emails back and forth, I took his advice and made a splitter for each side with matching color wiring to go to my seat harnesses. Bob is much better than me for working with wiring that all looks the same. I've taken the "match by color" route with mine.
I also stooped at the shop and got two quick pictures of one set of covers being sewn together and test fit to the seats. That is real progress and I hope that he stays on it this week.
First the wiring: These will connect into the seat connectors.
You can see my color wiring scheme here.
Right = Red (+) White (-) Left = Green (+) Black (-)
And sealed up and ready to go.
This is where I connected my splitters to both the left and right seat harnesses. The four female spade connectors at the bottom right will go to the radio output wiring.
A better look at how they are mated to each side to give a Right and Left to the seats, but still keeping a circuit for the rear panel speakers.
That's it. the four on the left will go to the rear panel speakers. I think that I will change those to a plug in connector in the event I want to ever easily disconnect the rear from the rest of the audio system.
And the seat covers in progress:
This is how he gets everything to fit before sewing the side panels on.
Everything is all detailed here: Miata Seat Conversion
