Miata - ALMOST Made it Home

Just a few miles from home, after coming down a steep
mountain road,I noticed that the steering was getting heavier.
When I pulled off to the side of the road,I noticed that
the right front tire was flat.Upon closer inspection,I noticed a
hole in the sidewall.
Couldn't find the jack at first, but located it in a side panel
in the trunk, after calling my Wife to bring me one of the floor
jacks out of the garage.Took out the t- bar wrench,& then noticed
that the lug nuts require a special adapter to get them off.
Ended up calling a tow truck,& 1 - 1/2 hours later,got it un-
loaded, just as it started to rain.
I guess it could have been worse.....

Aw, man! Well, glad it wasn't worse than it turned out.

How old are the tires? Hope it's just the one with the issue...

Aside from that, how do you like it?

Seller told me that they had about 20,000 miles on them.
Took the backway home, from Stuart to Floyd.Car seems to handle
really well,& has a great shifter. The down side is that it doesn't have
much of a personality, like a British car does.
On the other hand,it's reliable, affordable,& fairly comfortable,
& is fairly easy to get in/out of.Of course nobody stops & stares at it,
or wants to take a picture of it (except me).
I still need to figure out how to get those lug nuts off,so I can
get the wheel/tire to the shop to replace it.

Yep, tires got 20,000 miles on them, but they never tell you how old or how long they've been sitting. Glad you got home. Could not ask my wife to bring floor jack, couldn't pick it up. You can buy tools for lug nut removal, or go to the tire store and ask if you can borrow one, since you will be buying at least one tire. Look at dates on sidewall, if over 5 yrs, might buy all 4.

Those factory lug locks are coded like a key. There is no one size fits all Should only be one per wheel so cut it off and start from scratch. The is really no reason for them now as Miata wheels are not high on anyone's "steal list".

It could have been worse, you could have bought an MG and all the smoke could have escaped the wires on the way home.

WAIT! - it gets even better! - Borrowed a socket & got the wheel off.
Went to put the temporary spare on,& it was flat.Went & got it filled up,& it
seems to be holding.

The tires are code dated "3 16".I'm going to replace them as it's only
about $100 more to get a lesser set, rather than two of the same tires.

They're aftermarket wheels (ICW Racing wheels).

Third week of 2016, 3 1/2 yrs old. Might as well now and have extra time for fun.
