T-Series MGTD Crankshaft

I am looking for a crankshaft for a stock 1952 mgtd mark II for an enthusiast who contacted me this evening.

He doesn't care if the shaft has to be reworked as long as it is not cracked.

Sorry not in the spares bin. I'm picking up a spare engine soon but that is one of the parts I'm keeping. I have a friend who has some stuff and I can see if he has one.
 
Rick - That is a search that has less chance of success than the quest of Diogenes' in his search for an honest man. Moss and Abingdon Spares has them for a king's ransom, but that may well be his only source. For the record and to let him know tha the is not looking for something that is peculiar to the MK II, the crank is the same in it as in the TD and TF (and TB and TC for that matter).

Good luck on that one. Those little items are becoming very hard to find, and therefor are getting really expensive. If I hear anything I will certainly let you know. Be sure to post the question on the MG Enthusiasts' BBS Classifieds and/or TD forum.

Thanks....already posted (yesterday) on two other forums plus classifieds....I hope something pans out...I'll share any info I get should the interested party find a crank outside of my assistance!
 
I was quite surprised....in 24 hours, I've been fortunate and have received correspondence from three individuals with spares, as well as leads on the new cranks available at Moss.

I've forwarded all info onto the interested party....hopefully he will be able to find something to his liking and pocketbook!

Rick - This may be preaching to the choir, but tell your friend to make the sale contingent on the crank being tested for straightness and crack by a machinist of your friend's choice. I sold a crank some years ago and even though I had taken it in for checking, I told the buyer to have it tested again. The TD cranks, particularly the earlier ones, were very prone to cracking.
