MGC MGC pulling Transmission

I have a friend who thinks it is possible to pull the MGC tranny with out pulling the engine.In other words from the bottom of the car ,by removing the cross member and dropping it down.Is this crazy?or will it work?Thanks for your replies,Jeff
 
I'd have to say it will be a real PIA both ways, solely due to the transmission tunnel being shaped around the trans and I think as you drift the trans towards the back it will hit the tunnel.
