MGC MGC Hood.

Provided I find one not banged up too badly, would a MGC hood fit properly on a B? Nothing I have found tells me it wouldn't, but Im no expert. I just find the C hood to be more attractive, especially if I go with a Factory Special Tuning front air dam, all draped in Riviera Silver/Blue. Im not a fan of new-age body kits up to the ying-yang, but i think it would give the BGT some visual muskles

Thoughts? Encouragement? Death threats? Hehe

Remeber, it is aluminum so you have to be very careful with it. Do you have a convential prop on your hood or the telescopic prop. You may need to play around with it to work.

I had planned to switch to those fancy gas strunt props, especially since the hood is fragile.

But of course, this is all under the assumption that I can find a C hood without auctioning my left teste.

The MGC bonnet (hood in US terms) is considerably stiffer than the MGB bonnet due to the deep drawn bulge in it, it will still twist if abused and will still dent but not as easily as the b bonnets.

Try and get an original or steel repro rather than a Heritage aluminium pressing as these have some problems, the bonnet catch is incorrectly positioned, the camber at the front is too shallow to match a slatted grille and teh material they were pressed from is a lot softer than the originals (even more of a problem with the MGB pressings, I've heard of the nose at the front of the bonnet being pushed in by quite small amounts of pressure.

I can't comment on the fibregalss repros as I've no experience with them

I would be scared to put gas struts on aluminum or even fiberglass from what I've seen in pictures and in person.

Gas struts won't go on the aluminum hood, I tried with my 69 B, they won't attach without bending...

The fiberglass isn't strong enough to handle the stress of the struts either.
