After my CGT got whacked...I figured I wouldn't be able to find another, at least not right away. As luck would have it I did...and not just one...but two of them. I'm hanmmering out the final details with the insurance company but it looks like things may work out. Have to travel a bit, but it will be worth it.

nice! Hope it works out for ya! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nice indeed, glad for ya.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I put the banged up one on the rack yesterday, looks like I'll be keeping it and will start rounding up all the bits for it. Have a new radiator, will have to pull the front bumper, mounts, grille and valance to see whats hidden...hopefully not much. The big thing is of course the rack. I'll pull it and strip it down, then ship it off to England to see if its a rebuilder. To keep my spirits up I crank it every other day and let it run for a while:>

GREAT NEWS! Which insurance company said that they "felt your pain" and offered the bucks? Jack

Post some pics of the accident and your progress. I for one would like to see how your doing.

:seconded: Good news indeed, jackq.

When I pulled all the parts off the front, the small pucker on the right fender went away leaving a small crack in the paint. the valance, bomper and brackets are toast as well as the grille. Luckily the badges survived. The radiatotor is at my pal's shop that does them quickly and at a reasonable price. It took quite a while to wash out all the dirt and grass packed in the undercarriage. I have an iol leak and it looks like its right at the drain plug?? Real strange..never leaked a drop prior to this happening. Also spent about 40 minutes on the phone with USaa's head adjustor. Hes on the fence whether to write it off or repair. He did mention that the wires, tires, getting the rack pulled, shipped and checked would be covered...everything. Problem is the time..I have a rental and they want this resolved asap...supposed to know in 24-48 hrs. from talking to him yesterday.

Forgot....the CGT on Ebay says its a non-overdrive car??? Didn't know they came like that..anyone know ??

ANOTHER delay!!! USAA promised to call in 24-48 hrs. This was from the head guy in claims. No call. I called them..got the "Oh gee...its soooo rare and we don't know what to do" story. so far I've been given the 24-48 hr. story at least four times. I've tried to keep calm and my wife told me to just drive the wheels off the rental they gave me. I gave her that thing...and I'm driving her 78 Beetle vert.

Well...its been about a week since my last post about the CGT nightmare and still no word from USAA. Not really suprised...just discouraged. The radiator was picked up and reinstalled yesterday. Anti freeze, ran and bled...everything works great as far as the cooling. Still have to wait...and wait...

Don't know if I missed something or what, but am I to understand that you are repairing the origional C that got in the accident? If so.. What about the two you said you found to replace it? Did you collect the other two or forget about them?
Good luck with the Insurance Co. My father is our Ins. Broker up here and he says the big companies are really getting tough to deal with these days, especially at his level. They have gotten TOO BIG.

Think I would call them daily till I got an answer. Might even elevate it up to VP level.
