What would be the best book to study the C (regarding purchasing such a car)?

Thanks

Bruce

I'd think Clausenger's (tho I don't own one), but my favorite research book right now (for any car) is here... Internet search engines and forums are ~the best source~ of good info right now IMHO. Enjoy your connectivity! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

There is great information here but I do need a book to take with me with me when looking at the car. I think pictures are worth more than a 1000 words.

If no rust... yer golden! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

If you can get your hands on Lindsay Porter's book "MGB Guide to purchase and restoration" you will be in good shape. Tells you where to look for rust (not always apparent on these cars) , what to look out for mechanically, and how much problems will cost to fix.

Clausager's book is superb, but only useful in describing differences and originality, it doesn't tell you what you need to know when inspecting the cars. I have both books, well worth the investment.

Clausager has two books. Which one?

Mg Saloon Cars: From the 1920s to the 1970s

Mg: The Book of the Car

Thanks

Bruce

I have a copy of John Twist's "Technical Book" ; not sure if he is still printing it or not. It has an MGB buying guide; I'd imagine that about 80% of that would apply. Porter's book has a few pages dedicated to the MGC (at least Vol 1, which is the one I have, does).

Clausager's "Original MGB with MGC and V8" is a good starting point, although rather minimal in terms of complete information regarding the MGC. Ditto with the Porter books...both of these are based primarily on the MGB.

IF you can find a copy of "MGC -Abingdon's Grand Tour" by Graham Robson, buy it. ISBN #0-9519423-3-6 . It is out of print, but contains good historical and technical information on "The Brutal Aggressive" known as the MGC.

Bruce-

I'm going to London tomorrow; I frequent a rare bookstore there named MotorBooks (www.motorbooks.co.uk). If they have a copy, I'd be glad to pick it up for you and mail it from PA when I get home. No charge for carriage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

The basement is loaded with NOS shop manuals, but their selection is getting thin.
