An easy question to be sure. But for those of you that picked out the missing spare tire in the trunk (er?) I mean Boot – you get an “A+”. The tipper or giveaway should have been the other tires and how bright they show up.
Great job you guys!
But in fairness to MGA Steve, the images are a little on the small side. But just so you know these are normally displayed on huge 21” monitors. Likewise I converted these jpg images from massive tiff files, So some of the resolution was lost. Regardless for our purposes these are just fine. Its not like I was asking you to fine my Leatherman utility tool in the glove box.
Anyway, if the spare tire had been there it would have been clearly distinguishable in the Backscatter (#2) iamge. Likewise in the Normal or Transmission (#3) the spare’s “wheel rim” would have shown up clearly as well.
FYI The reason the spare tire was removed that day, is that I needed to carry my large (plastic) Platt toolbox and there wasn’t room in the trunk with the spare tire. That’s the large box like item you see in the trunk in the backscatter image. The smaller item next to the toolbox is my oscilloscope, also plastic.
As for the battery it’s right there behind the passengers seat. It can be best seen in the normal image. The reason you don’t see it defined so well in the backscatter image, is because of all the much denser material in that area of the vehicle. However if the battery was located in the engine bay (as in most cars today) it would show up much clearer.
Some more items that show up pretty good are the windshield wiper fluid reservoir and the carbon canisters in image #2. Also the normal scan image #3 clearly shows the leaf springs and the Rollbar all the way down to the hard points where it is bolted down.
