MGB MGB windshield rebuild

I was installing the glass in the 69 winshield frame today. I am using a VB clear windshield. The process was to install the top 3 pieces and then the bottom slid right into place! The windshields i have been using came from Special interest car parts about 15 years ago. They are long gone now. I purchased in bulk so my only experience was with their glass. They were a bit too wide. Installation was a bear!!!The thing i did today was to duct tape the front channel so the front seal lip would not enter the channel while sliding the "T" seal into place. I used a spray lube and it worked great. I also drill another hole a bit further from the post so the seal will not have to bend as much when feeding it into place.I have marked the area with pen so you can see how far out it is from the post. I hope this tip helps y'all someday. Bob

Special Interest... mentioned 'em a month or two ago.

We did the same thing, too. the glass I have in this B was the last of the S.I. ones. I think they were $25 at the time they were closing. Got a TON of other stuff from 'em too. Jag bits, mostly.

Wider, huh? THAT could answer some issues.

I think i got 10 of them. Every one i installed wanted to push the rubber seal into the frames on the sides. I think i paid $30 something each at the time. Now to get it in the car! Thats always a good job on a thursday. Bob

This one has "stuffed" the sides of the seal into the rails. I'm in a position where I'll just live with it. I never took the time to measure them one against the other. The original is long gone... Now I'm frustrated at not paying attention to detail!

The S.I. glass was what I ~thought~ was closer to Triplex.

...now I feel "used". :jester:
