Interesting build. Odd to see the fishmouth grille on an earlier car. Swap back to chrome bumpers, tidy up a few things, and off you go.

Friend of mine just finished his GM V6 conversion. Boy is it a sweet car -- not something I'd do personally but man, it does scoot.

Indeed it does! I'm still working on mine (when I can!), but love the performance. Nice to have both an original and a modified B.
 
Dunno what the horsepower is; for a 2.8L engine it must be at least 150, maybe more. He's got the original drive train--can it take that much power? I'd hate to step on the gas some day, hear an awful noise from the transmission, and drift slowly and ignominiously to a stop.

Generally speaking, transplants are made with the matching transmissions; mine (GM 3.4 V6) has the Tremec 5-speed and a modified drive shaft (length and yoke for the tranny). The MGB rear end is fine with the V6.

I think you are dreaming. The engine is a Ford Cologne product that had 90-115 BHP.

As for drivetrain, I am running 200 BHP through a stock MG rear end.
