MGB MGB seats in a MG Midget?

Hi all,

I'm stil searching for those Midget seats. Does anyone know if seats for the B will fit in a Midget? I have a '76. There seems to be a great number of B seats out there, but darn if I can find ones for my Midget. I'm sure the insurance company will grant my collector plates if they "look" original.

Thanks,
Malcolm

have you talked to Tony Barnhill? the autoist
hes coming to canada in june on his mega trip, might could save some on shipping them

I took an MGB seat out to one of the Midgets in my MG Graveyard one day last summer....I wouldn't recommend you try it...I also saw a Midget in a salvage yard with Pontiac Fiero seats...wow, talk about bastardization!
...but, back to the Midget seats...the MGB ones won't fit properly & allow any travel forward/rearward (actually, they're so wide they will only quasi-fit in 1 location....I have plenty of old Midget seats but they'll all need reupholstery....but, shipping to Canada is cost prohibitive

Tony is the king of the Fiero/MGB conversion. He can even sell you a pair of rebuilt seats, with Leather upolstery that will bolt into a B

i'm putting a pair of leather/suede recaros from an alfa romeo in my mgb. they fit, width/height wise, and allow forward and rear movement. i have to weld in the new bottom rails which shouldnt be a problem. electric control 4 way adjustable too! its a shame the seats are not heated.

Thanks for the info,

By the way, what is a fair price for some seats, Midget or MGB? Say, if they were in fair condition? What about the frames only? I know Moss offers kits to redo seats, but they are very costly.

check ebay for the going price on good used seats. a set that requires nothing will start at 100usd and go up from there. sometimes they seem to slip by and go for little of nothing. I bought a pair of 63 B seats that needed nothing but some armorall for $50. I still don't know how I got them that cheap
