MGB mgb roadster : sticking the hood to the rear moving bar of the cage

Anyone know of anything good to stick that back moving bar to the hood of the car on an MGB roadter 1972. Mine keeps coming unglued.
what about superglue, or will that melt the hood??

hey thanks dude, but thats what Ive got on it at the moment, and I dont think much of it. When the roof gets hot in the sun, it just warms the glue, and it melts to the point where it comes apart.
any other suiggestions???

Might try JB Weld (The stuff Paul Harvey is always talking abouyt on the radio - at least over here in the States).

JB weld will end up rigid and will break. I used contact cement and had no problems
 
Contact cement is an adhesive which bonds upon contact. The two surfaces to be bonded are separately coated with the cement & allowed to dry. When the two coated surfaces are pressed together there is an instant permanent bond. I find that the solvent based cements work better than the water based product.

It is a very common adhesive & I would expect it to be available world wide. Possibly under different names but the same idea applies.

Actually, most interior adhesives and contact cements will deteriorate with the heat...a better solution to try would be a "headliner adhesive" designed to take the heat of a hood in the sun. I don't know if you have it there and I have only seen it locally in a spray can, so I can't offer to ship you some...but I bet there is some available somewhere over there.

I saw a new hood on a car recently that had the fabric held to the bar with velcro (if we're talking about the bar that sits just in front of the rear window that is). Originally the fabric in that area was wrapped around the bar and glued I think - on this hood/top it was wrapped then velcroed to itself. Seemed to work pretty well.
 
Try some 3M 5200 marine adhesive. Best stuff i ever used. It stays flexible and soft also. I used to use it to reglue engine mounts on jet skis.
 
Use Evostick Contact Adhesive (In a red tube or tin). The hood should not be glued to the frame. Run a line of adhesive along each flap and join them to form a tube around the frame crossmember. The hardest part of the job is keeping glue off the rest of the hood/window/car/carpet/seats.
