MGB MGB neurosurgery

I set aside some time today to fix the damage done by the fire I had a few weeks ago. Gathered all my parts and connections and such. Jacked up the car and put jackstands in the appropriate locations.

First the physical inspection. Lovely fire melted about 6-7 inches of a main wiring bundle - (7 wires - red, green/purple, green/red, green/brown, green/white, green/black and a larger white wire) - all had their casings melted together. In addition, two independent green wires (one green, the other green/brown) had the casing burned clean off. And of course the 4 main wires running to the starter - (heavy gauge brown, 2 smaller gauge brown and a white/red) - also charred and crispy. And let's not forget the main lead to the battery! 3 inches at the starter connection now done 'cajun' style!

Then the surgery to cut out all the crispy sections.

I've just finished making up the replacement sections and off to flux, solder and heat shrink tube each "splice". Not hard, just time consuming.

BTW, who can tell me where the white/red wire connects? It had a "o" ring connector on it but that's half gone now....

W/R on a TR is the dash light circuit

Actually that is R/W.
Which one is it do you need

Pete, White/red is iggy on your car. Switch to solenoid, IIRC.
