I'm rebuilding this '71 B motor. I'm using the Payden gasket sets. In the Lower set there are 3 cork, straight rectangular strips. One fits the groove in the bottom of the front main bearing cap pretty well. The other 2 are thinner. Just one isn't quite thick enough to fit the rear main bearing cap groove. Am I missing one for the rear? Should I stack the 2 thin ones?
I asked Moss and they said they go in the sides of the rear cap. Huh??? I can imagine that there may be odd extras to fit older and newer series, what goes in the rear?
Also, the front one is in place, but it is kind of thick. Will the pan pull it down flush and seal OK? The original fit flush, of course.
Any explanation will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
