I've been wanted to ask this here for awhile but I always forget. My 78's have a rather uncommon stripe across the top and down around the rear of the back fenders(see pics below)....I've seen other cars with the same thing but I don't see this stripe available at an American suppliers....So I got a little worried about where I'd get a new one if I ever needed one, then a got a flyer from a Canadian Supplier and was very surprised when I saw that they carried them. The ad said it was a 'canada only' thing? Anyone know if this is correct? Also is their anything else that makes a car a 'mark IV'?

Heres a couple pics of the striping if anyone is unsure of what I am talking about, I wish I had a good pic of the orange car because the stripe shows up better(it's a black stripe on that car).

It was just something Canadian dealers "ginned up" to try & boost sales towards the end of production....we had US kits also...they're nothing special & don't denote a unique car.

& there's nothing that makes a car a Mk IV - there was no such animal from the factory.

Oh, that kit was used on Midgets here in the US...

Thats wat I figured, becasue they're not all that uncommon around here(I've probably had 4 or 5 Mk IV cars).....but I do really like the look of the stripe.

Nothing wrong with it if you like it...isn't that what these little cars are all about?
