Where is the MGB ('80) inertia switch?, I found it in the wiring diagram, but can't find it on the car, long story, but I think I tripped it, car slipped off the jack as I was lifting the car, no damage, but now fuel pump doesn't work.

Thanks, Greg

That's neat. Think they would both go if it was mine.

Found it, pushed a button on the bottom, fual pump ticks again--that was too easy! Thanks for the help, don't know how long it would have taken me to find it, couldn't find any reference to it in the manual other than the wiring diagram.

It is prob mentioned in the owners manual that got thrown out years ago.

Get a bentley manual. The first few dozen pages are an exact copy of the original owners manual... The rest is how to fix nearly everything on the car.

I've got owners manuals for my B & my C.
I wish my cars were in as good condition as the manuals.

THe manual I referred to is a Haynes, I have used them for many years on many cars and think they provide good information, I have noticed the newer the cars get the more stuff that is missing, for 60s and back cars they seem to cover pretty much everything, as you get into the later dacades more and more missing from the manual.

Don't know if this was a change in production standards, or the cars just got more complicated and it was too hard/costly/voluminous to cover it all

You probably have one of the few that still works! When you start feeling gas on your foot, bypass it!

Tony,

How would bypassing the electrical inertia switch prevent fuel from leaking on your foot?

Or were you refering to the inertia fuel valve located in the engine compartment?

Fuel, leaking on your foot????? Let's hope not!!! Do you mean brake fluid? That's a strong possibility. The inertia switch merely breaks the electrical circuit to the fuel pump and shuts it off in the event of an accident. It can also be used as a theft deterrent. Even though it didn't come with one, for safety reasons, I installed one from a 79 on our 72. Inertia fuel valve??? That's a new one.

I think Tony looked at the video, which talks about the fuel rollover switch, which could leak gas on your foot, mine is bypassed--but yes my problem was with the inertia switch, which just flows electrons, not gas.
