I was using parts off the shelf & my rebuid kits didn't have the little fluid channel seals in them...& I didn't have any in stock...so, no splittee.

Ahah. The old parts-not-on-hand trick. Well, you're excused then /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif.

(but FWIW, I'd expect YOU of all people to have no less than a dozen of these little fiddly bits on the shelf at all times. I'm dissapointed Tony. I'll bet Doc has a few laying around /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/angel.gif)

Oh, and while we're at it... has anyone figured out a trick to getting that steel ring seated squarely in the Caliper? I invariable end up bending the blasted thing or it pops out when I tap tap tap to get it started. I always buy an extra kit just for those stupid steel rings.

No trick that I know - just patience. Only trick that I know is don't remove it if it looks useable.

For some reason, the counter guy finds it amusing that I use grade 8 bolts (stamped with CAT) on my MG. CAT makes their own hardware and it is very high quality.

I'm guessin' he's a bit ~young~

Them steel clips are th' same as circlips. Slime 'em up with glycerine or silicone and they almost find their "home" by themselves!

Well, today I get to challenge the circlips holding the rear wheel cylinders in place when I put new cylinder on the '74-1/2....my trick is to remove the backing plate from the car with brakes intact & build the rear brakes on my bench...then replace them intact.....I can get to that little sucker much easier that way.
