MGB MGB Connecting pin

I have a '80 MGB. One of the connecting pins or snaps that holds the top tight to the body has come loose. While I can get to most of the pins from the inside of the car to hold the nut and tighten, this one has no access to the nut. Short of cutting a hole from inside, does anyone know a way to tighten these pins?

Thank you.

I assume you mean the studs where the so-called "Lift the Dot" fasteners attach to. There is one or two you can reach from the trunk. A 1/4" drive ratchet & small hands help; the others are reached from the interior; which involves taking the interior "dogleg" trim off & reaching waaaay up. An appropiate extention to the 1/4" drive ratchet will help.

This is from my rapidly fading memory; I'm sure someone will correct this if necessary.

Or they may have a better way.

Good luck.

Colin

No "better" way. Trim panel needs removing, access is "tight".

1/4" drive swivel socket on a long extension helps.
