MGB MGB body mix?

How tough is it to put the guts from a '66 B into a '63 B body? I know that the trans tunnel was widened somewhere in these years for a wider trans but what else is involved? I am guessing that I can't put the OD trans into the narrow body but will a common 5-main 3-syncro box fit?
Bill

Those two should be nearly totally interchangeable. If both have the pull-type door handles, it's 'mix-n-match'! All is the same.

Actually, the "B" posts are different between the '63 & '66...to use the '63 doors, you have to change to '63 "B" post...other than that, its a pretty easy swap.

I'm assuming that the doors are staying with their respective shells. It isn't worth the work involved to change them.

Ah, if all you're doing is swapping the mechanics from one into the other, its a piece of cake...

GREAT! Thanks, I think (hope) that the doors are coming with the shell. This is good news. Another one back from the grave (I hope).
Bill

Hi Bill, If you are discussing the body shell that I have, then yes it does come with the doors minus deck lids.
Cheers, David. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

Deck lids are a snap!

The trans tunnel was widened in 1968 for the new 4 synro tranny, your 66 should have the 3 syncro tranny same as the 63, so it should all work pretty easy . On a another topic, 4 syncro trannys will fit in the earlier cars, just little more of a snug fit.
