Just got my latest Classic Motorsports magazine and with it came a 2005 calendar. The calendar celibrates the top 50 classic sports cars of all time, listed in order of position from Jan to Dec. The Jaguar XKE was February (#2), but the # 1 classic sports cars of all time was the MGB! (of course the ranking were based on reader votes).

You beat my EType! Congratulations MGB owners! Don't let it go to your head /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I love the calendar too & it currently has a place of honor in my garage. The Fabulous 50 (Best Sports Cars of all time) in the last issue was a good article and I’m not being bias (well maybe a little /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif). While it was totally no-scientific poll, it was a diverse crowd of great vehicles. In fact I’d have to say all of them are keepers with the top 5 all being cars I have coveted at one time or another.

So Bas,

Bet you must have loved seeing the E-Type on the cover of the January February issue CMS?

HEHEHE.......B POWER!

They forgot to poll me! I love the E-type over an MGB or just about anything else for that matter!

I just think it is because there are alot more owners of the MGB compared to the XKE. If you compared the votes to the actual number of registered cars for that model, I bet there would be a different much different order.

Interesting that the readers of CM (of which I am one) voted the MGB as #1 and the Jag at #2. Almost like they voted "this is what I own v. this is what I'd like to own." Alas, the MGA came in at number 19.

What is an EType??

There was a lot of ballot stuffing going on too (not that the B isn't a good winner) - I know people on the Scimitar list stuffed the ballot box a bit to get to #37.

Oh you are kidding...........A Rover was not #1.....What were they thinking LOL.........Thats all right..........In Practical Classics both the MGB and E Type and Rover for that matter were beat by the # 1 car...........get ready for it....THE MORRIS MINOR........
OH THE HORROR.....LOL There is something for everyone and there is no predicting what people like /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif.........

Come on the B. Sorry Basil. Regards John.

Since I wrote the story, I had pretty good insight into what was going on with the voting. Yes, there was a lot of ballot stuffing, and some efforts were made to correct for that. You could tell, too, which groups got the word out and which ones didn't.

But overall, I thought the final list was VERY interesting and diverse. I liked it quite a bit. My personal fear was that the list would look like this.

Jaguar
MG
Triumph
etc.

How can I get a copy of this calender. Regards John.
