MGB MGB 4 cylinder conversion

Where's the parts list & directions to do that? I want one NOW!
Mighty good looking and probably & I'd gather has a little pep too.

Vince...the book's titled "How to Give Your MGB V8 Power"

here's a photo of my engine:

Quad 44's on a Boxer 2-piece cross-flow intake! Built & run on a European professional racecar (beautiful red TR8 whose engine specs almost mirror mine) for a season before the class went fuel injection - & he won every race with them!

Tony,

I gotta say that that engine with the SUs adorning the intake brings a tear to my eye... couldn't be a prettier sight....I AM IN LUV.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Neat!. One day when I win the lottery...
I'd have to agree as well. From what I have done my self and read and learned, these carbs are really efficient and easy to work on. Scared me at first but really simple to me now.

I knew the Weber suggestion would evoke a responce! Both of my Bs have DGV Webers along with the Metropolitan having a 32ict. Nobody will ever defend the Zenith that is stock for the Met!
I don't seem to have the problems everyone mentioned with the DGVs, although the BGT will soon have dual sidedraft 45dcoe carbs, The TD does have SUs and they work very well.
The 66 came with the Weber, and I put one on the 72 when I first got it as the carbs were toast and I got the Weber and manifold for the same cost as rebuild kits for the Hif4s.

And because we all can't agree on the same thing, that's why they still make Fords and Chevys. Oh,Oh, they do still make Fords, don't they?

They're callin' 'em "Jaguars" now. feh.

Well I have a Weber DGV with a broken choke system and the original twin SU that look like they are in pretty bad shape. I have done some moderate car work, but have been intimidated by carbs. Is there anyone in the Midwest that can rebuild the SU or is it a doable project on your own?

The SU's are a piece of cake to rebuild. The only "sticky wicket" is if the throttle shafts have worn the bodies to the point where bushings are needed. The bodies have to be reamed out, and that takes special tooling or an incredibly steady hand.

There are several folks who specialize in SU's - Joe Curto, in NY, is one of the more well-known. Pretty quick turnaround on rebuilds.

I used University Motors in Ada Michigan for mine. John Twist is a true MG guru. Had them done about 15 years ago & after the initial set up & balancing, I haven't touched them since. There was also a manufacturing defect they caught, can't remember what it is now, but I have the letter explaining it framed on the garage wall. Seems it was only the second time they ran into that in all of their years. Here's his url:

The Buick aluminum V8 engine that Davester showed above belongs to a gent named Bill Jacobson. AWESOME CAR!!!

The photo Davester attached, however, is outdated. Bill recently updated his MGB with Eaton M90 supercharger, cowl induction, fuel injection, electronic ignition, and an under-dash heater...

Check it out! The blower fits under a stock MGB bonnet!!!

You can read all about the new mods here: https://www.britishv8.org/Articles/MGB-V8-Supercharger.htm

You can see the rest of Bill's car here:

Bill's dad has a V8 MGA... check it out here:

(Note: there are lots of great engine options. Surfing the "British V8" site, you'll find rotary engines, inline-fours, V6's, etc. Yesterday we uploaded a gorgeous V12-powered Austin-Healey 100-4. Hot-rodding is getting a lot of new people interested in British sports cars!)

OMG......

well... that's all I can say.... OMG..... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bow.gif

That is so lovely. What a great toy.

Well guys and gals (to be politically incorrect) now you've done it....

I have my '66 B in the garage ready to be rebuilt.... Now, believe it or not, the ol' Hot Rodder in me is thinking about some serious iron under the hood....

Small Chevy V8 or nice V6, but what in the world would I do with the rest of the drivetrain? Turbo 350 (showing my age), 5 speed, and then what about the rear end???

Even as I write this I am seeing all kinds of problems... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

That must be some serious $$$ under that hood. That's dedication.
