I recently replaced the rusty centre rod attached to the windscreen by taking off the revision mirror and drilling out the four pop rivets which allowed me to unscrew the rod and put in a new one then re rivet it back the question I have is how tight do you do up the rod?

Regards
Aussie Chris

Hi, Chris -

As I understand it, that rod is primarily in place to keep the top rail of the windshield from lifting when the top is secured. Probably most prudent to install finger tight, then a couple flats more with a suitable wrench. Maybe a bit of Loctite to keep it from backing out.

Chris, don't over tighten it, try to get the same pressure in the center as is overall. Mickey's suggestion is right on! PJ
