Firstly hello to all the mg owners and forum users, this is my first post and i'm looking into buying an MGA

I have previously owned an MGF but strayed to the German side with a TT (which i now have to unfortunately sell.. i love that car)

I have decided (now having 2 kids) to swap modern impractical for classic impractical and am looking into replacing it with an MGA

I am in very early stages of my 14 point plan to convince the wife that this is a good idea but may have hit a stumbling block.

The MGA roadster doesn't have windows!!

How do people get around this, avoiding rain is the obvious answer but i assume there must be some other way

I found this MGA on e-bay and was wondering if this is how?

can anyone enlighten me as to where to get these "windows" and do they keep the rain out with the top up?

Those windows are called side curtans and are installed when needed.

Of more intrest is how you get a wife and two kids in an MGA?
 
if i could get them in then it would only be a 5 point plan

Of course they work, not like a modern car but they do work, after all they were designed for English weather.
 
The amount of rain that would come in through the side curtains while driving in a storm would be tiny compared to all the other places it could come in. Bob

Yea...And it's 'speed sensitive'

When you're soaked in one spot...
You can change speed... And it'll leak somewhere else :thumbsup:
 
Usually with side curtans the faster you go the less water comes in.

Tell that to your friendly cop, feel free to quote me. lol
 
Welcome, thats a nice a little pricey IMHO, at least in this economy.

Hopefully you are down to below number 10.

If you get there I would offer less, but A afficianodos would be a better source.
 
Yup, side curtains work pretty good....a bit of a pain to take on and off though. One of our MGA's is a daily driver(usually from april to november....but we're pushing it out longer this year) it's been in all types of weather - including snow with no major issues.
 
Well SOME MGAs do have roll up windows.....you just can't get them with a soft top.
