MGA MGA with wood dash

Hi folks - was at the Long Beach CA auto swap today and there was a very nice MGA with a wood dash rather than the (correct) body color steel.

It really changed the look of the car - made it very Jaguar-ish.

Has anyone here done that? Thoughts? Let the debate begin!

Do you have pics? I wouldbe interested in what it would look like.

Sorry - didn't have my camera with me. Just think if a burled walnut dash from an early Jag roadster.

Made a surprising difference in how the car looked.

I've done it to my '53 TD & my '63 Midget has one also.

I plan on doing that with my TC(some actually had it like that from the factory)...but I really don't like the look of it on an MGA, plus I've seen alot of MGA's with poorly done wooden dashes that don't even come close to the original metal which I think looks great.

Part of the beauty of the MGA is the color-matched steel dash. It really ties the interior into the exterior, especially since the scuttle area is sort of shared by the two.

I do wood dashes in all species and also offer a brushed, or ribbed aluminum real metal laminate which looks awsome and very racy.

Maggie came with a black leather dash & amazingly it is still in good shape

Is your MGA a MK II? Or perhaps a Deluxe or a coupe? Those all came with leather covered dash panels with a chrome finishing strip along the bottom. Otherwise it's an aftermarket modification.

P.O put an MKII dash in my 61.....that will definatly be changed back when I restore the car.
