I came home yesterday to see the 61 A sitting in it's spot in the driveway with the top up and some old side curtains from my parts stash on it...looks like SWMBO to tired of getting soaked and frozen driving it everywhere.....I top isn't in the best cosmetic condition, but it will keep her dry...But I figure the least I could do to encourage this new enthusiasim would be to fix up the side curtains: they are the aluminium framed type, the rubber is shot, and the sliding window on the passenger side is missing a big peice of the plastic. I can get new rubber from MOSS but they don't sell the window....Can I just cut a peice of plexiglass to fit? anyone done this before? any other thoughts? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
 
Yes, you can cut Plexi (or LEXAN-my choice),,but you'll have to look closely at the window frame to see where you can disassemble it to get the old piece out & the new one in.
 
Wait, do sidecurtins disassemble, all the ones I have seen are welded.

However, the plastic can still be changed. Spread the frame and snap the new ones in, do make sure they are not too large when you cut and trim them. Weather stripping for the plastic can be made from black felt from the wifes cloth store. Make em pleanty wide and trim after installing the plastic they also help the plastic get over the lip into the channel.

However if yours really come apart, peice of cake.
 
I didn't know they came apart? They look welded to me? but i think there is enough play that I can wrestle in a new peice.
 
The plastic will bend a bit as well.

Lexan is the best stuff. It doesn't scratch as easily as Plexiglass and is stronger. You can even glue on a little handle as original. I don't know if you have OSH stores up there, but they sell small pieces of plexi and other materials.
 
No OSH....but I should be able to get some lexan somewhere....Home Depo? Homehardware?
