we are finishing up on the wiring of my 1960 mga and we are getting power on both sides and we are somewhat baffled and need a Jump start any wiring gurus available by Phone give me a phone # by email to call for an over the phone diagnosis . Thanks karl@btropical.com

We are thinking a wire somehow is going back to the frame , some wire a ground wire ? . We are trying to isolate the fuse box to see whats happening . As we know this is a shot in the dark and it is usually best to avoid wiring problems like the plague any help or ideas welcome .

Well we see the fuel pump might be a positive ground fuel pump ? When we isolated the fuel pump >. took off the white wire we didnt get power on both sides of the fuel pump . Looks like we are on to more trouble . Sorry for crying wolf . Gonna keep at it ./ https://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj134/mariesigns/mk2/mk3/?action=view&current=074.jpg https://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj134/mariesigns/mk2/mk3/?action=view&current=073.jpg

Easy now, easy. Wiring is not hard at all!!!! You need to be more specific about what exactly your trouble is. Does nothing work? some things work? What? Take a deep breath, and start this thread all over. Be specific as to what the car is/is not doing.

We made sure we had a good ground and thing s got better ,
we got the starter to turn .
We used the aftermarket front light setup with relays and we have got the front lights to fire .
We are checking the front wires , the light switch works for the front , the dr side seems bad ground it is gettin a little light but not bright .
We still don't have running lights .
We have not hooked up the fuel pump again yet .
We are going to Re do the ground to the chassis .
Yes it actually has been fun doing the wiring and solving mysteries . gonna hit it again tomorrow maybe get some more progress .

Nice progress. Slow but steady wins the race.

That's the beauty of the MGA...

It only need 2 wires to run.
The coil & the fuel pump (also the starter)

After that...It's all down hill
Just go system by system. (Charging, fuel gage, heater, horn, and save lighting for last)

For the MGA, the starter is not even necessary, one can always use the starting handle (crank). My wife started our TD for a week back when it was her everyday car and I was rebuilding the starter.
Cheers,

My Boy Gerry installed an aftermarket fuel pump today that I had ready for my GT . We are going to hit it first thing tomorrow to see if we can fire the engine . ""First the obligation then the devotion "" my Grand mother would allways say . Business is trying to get in the way but hopefully I will be able to get it to the GOF in Silver Springs FL April 11th - 13 https://www.britishcarclub.net/silverspgsflyer.pdf

Here's a picture of my best friend / mechanic / mentor Gerry Diepering helping Marie on here way to 37 th place in the grm challenge in Gaineville Fl . https://www.fastpitstops.com scrowl down to the bottom
