OK here's my dilemma. I'm reuilding an engine for a 62 MGA MkII. It's the 1622 engine. It all looks great but I've hit a snag. The cylinders have been bored .040 over during the previous rebuild. And the engine was fitted with new pistons. So I ordered .040 over rings from Moss. The pistons have wider ring grooves (by almost .010) than these rings fit.
My question is this, Should I go through a company like Deves, to try to get rings to fit these pistons (they are hepolite but I haven't been able to find the source of them).
Or should I just order the .040 piston and ring set from Moss, and be done with it. (around $300)
Thanks in advance for any ideas or info.
P.S. its a nice car. The guy that owns it, bought it NEW! He told me the MG dealer had to go looking for it. He told them he diden't want the new model (MGB) so they found him one of the last regionally available MGA MkIIs
