I am in the middle of doing the sills on my coupe. I need to repair the lower section under the "latch" door pillar. I have Todd Clarke's M1 repair plate, but I trying to devise the proper plan for cutting out the rot and prepping for the new piece. I have concluded I need to remove the pillar first, but was hoping for an old pro to give me a better plan!

I'm trying to imagine the bits you are trying to replace....is this part of the "F" structure (both door pillars and sills)? Also, are you trying to replace the whole pillar or just part of it? I think its better to replace the whole thing, at least it was on my old Midget. I'm not familiar with the structure of the A, but you'd certainly need to brace everything before cutting. Sorry I can't be more help, I'm no expert bodyman. (Have you seen the book "Original MGA" by Clausager? It has some fantastic cutaways and whatnot.)

Tony, if my wife knew this she would be calling you. The A is currently sitting (scattered?) in her spot in the garage, with summer officially ending today she is wanting to see some progress!

Ed, thanks, I am familar with Barney's site. Was looking for some other opinions, Barneys section is all text, (except for the twin cam stuff..whose picures are tough to enlarge),I was looking for some pics, guess I am a visual learner....

I think I've got her number, David; I'll just give her a call...
...&, you've gotta learn to follow Tony's rule: "She can never say 'no' to you if you never say 'no' to her!" Though I have 15 cars & a motorcycle in my garage, there's always room for Jerri's car...well, there was't until I added on but she always knew that as I added on, I would make room for her car...thus, she never said 'no' about the addition! &, she only parks iside on bad weather days anyway!
