MGA MGA fender welt

Anyone have a source for the chrome colored fender welting for the "A"? I have the grey welting, but would like to have the chrome colored.

Ray

Is there such a thing??

There was never any such thing offered from factory or as an aftermarket (that I remember)....however,you could go down to Advance & buy a roll of that flexible chrome stuff..

Thanks for the feedback. I have a big Healey with the chrome strip between the front and rear fenders. I really like the looks of the chrome.

You might want to use the samew thing that's on your Healey

Ray,
The healey fender bead is actual metal, and as such it stays nice and straight and even when the fenders are correctly bolted on. With the MGA it is extremely difficult (been there...) to get the fender beading really perfectly straight. Tastes vary, but I believe you will be disappointed if you try the chromey route. When something that bright is just a tiny bit off, it looks awful. I've seen it done. Trust me.

Aloha Ray,

TR3's use a metal beading between body panels. It is not chromed, the pieces I've seen are stainless steel and are readily available from the major LBC part suppliers. The beading has movable metal tabs that can be spaced about every 6 inches that go between the panels and hold the bead in place. The potential pit fall is that they are not that flexible so bending them to fit the contours of a MGA may cause some kinking.

here a link to illustrate Moss's offerings:

Thanks again for the input. I am not ready to spray the car yet, so I guess I will have time to make a decision.

Motorbill, the Healey looks so good with the chrome welting, I can't imagine that it would detract from the looks of the "A".

Actually the Healey has stainless steel fender "piping". Looks like chrome but its function is to stop the possibilty of corrosion putting steel fenders up against aluminium shrouds (even though there is a paint barrier). It does look like chrome however. Could you not have the original solid grey plastic piping chrome plated? Imagine you would need to keep its installed shape very well supported in the process.
