Little help here.... I tore my A down about two years ago and the restoration in progressing nicely. However, I can't remember the orientation of the FRONT drum backing plates... they can go two ways with the slaves horizontal.. Anyone know which way is correct?? There is a stamped part number that can either go on the top or the bottom. I guess I should take a picture but thought I would ask now and take a picture tonight... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just to be sure it is understood /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif, font to rear with shoes on TOP and BOTTOM. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif

Ed, That is correct. Shoes top and bottom, slaves front and back... I keep trying to figure out a way to articulate the difference in the plates.. You will know it if you have an A.. there is a distension that abruptly goes inward (toward the chassis) and then tappers back toward the backing plate. So the confusion is whether the abrupt side is in front or back. I don't yet see a functional difference but I am anal about installing the part correctly.

Thanks,

Ed,
What manual do you have? I have several but none have the detail that yours obviously does. 'tis disconcerting to find that the ol' memory isn't what it once was... sooo, a good manual is immeasurable help...

Thanks, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
