I was only at this event (in Valley Forge, PA) on Friday, so I did not get involved in the weekend car show or meet as many folks as I would have liked, but still a great time. The Miata ran great but bringing the MGB would have been better if it had been all done (crossing my fingers that it'll be running next week).

Met some familar folks (including some fellow vintage racers) and even saw some cars that I'd seen at the Moss Britfest not long ago.

John Twist was great...very down-to-earth fellow with endless knowledge of MGs.

Did get to meet BCF member Rick Ingram and his Missus.
Saw Hap's display but he wasn't around.

This is just a dozen of so pictures on this link (below).....I'm sure their will be more from others.

Great pix, Nial, thanks for posting.

How about the Riley! And what a lovely MG Metro (turbo?).

Drool. :cryin:

It was great meeting you in person! Wish you could have enjoyed the whole event!

I like the 2 iris blue cars and the MG Metro Turbo. The trailers are pretty neat too.

The first Iris Blue MGB pictured is owned by Rich Wagner, and is shown sporting the Mercury Ace hubcaps discussed in an earlier thread. The second Iris Blue MGB is owned by Paul Hanley. It has won NAMGBR Concours twice, NAMGBR best of show at least once; and competed at Amelia Island Concours in 2008. It has been trailered to a show ONCE (2003) that I am aware of. (Paul now serves as Concours Coordinator for NAMGBR - his car won that competition prior to his becoming coordinator)

There were a LOT of nice MGs in King of Prussia, PA this week!

Sounds really great.
Too bad everything happens so far away from (my) home.

I'm with you, Rick....don't know why they constantly put it on the outer edges of the continent....whats wrong with the middle so everybody & get there?

I stopped by Advanced Dist and looked for Hap as well but could not locate anyone. Then the skies opened up. It was quite a trip for me. Great bunch of cars.

Tony...

Different rick speaking here...but I would like to comment on your concern....

The Rockies seem to be a barrier for many of our west "coast" enthuasiasts...the "regulars" come out to play at a midwest and sometimes even an eastern event...hard to convince some folks that their MG will indeed make a long road trip! :frown:

That's why the event(s) moves around...to make it available to the multitudes. It is also important to the Register(s) and the MG Council to have the support and assistance of local clubs to help make the event memorable for all in attendance. Sad thing is, some won't come even if it's in their own back yard. :frown:

NAMGAR and NAMGBR share the philosophy of regional rotation, as do the MMM, the NEMGTR, and the AMGCR.

In regards to NAMGBR meets:

1992 - Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
1993 - St.Louis, MO
1994 - Washington, D.C.
1995 - North Lake Tahoe, CA/NV
1996 - Indianapolis, IN (the first all-Register meet)
1997 - Buffalo, NY
1998 - Hagerstown, MD
1999 - Vancouver, B.C. Canada
2000 - Cleveland, OH
2001 - St.Paul, MN (the second all-Register event)
2002 - Grapevine, TX
2003 - St.Louis, MO
2004 - Parsippany, NJ
2005 - Olympia, WA
2006 - Gatlinburg, TN (the third all-Register event)
2007 - Sonoma, CA
2008 - Philadelphia, PA
2009 - Breckenridge, CO
2010 - Bellville, Ontario, Canada
2011 - Tahoe/Reno, NV (the fourth all-Register event)

I live in the Midwest, and have driven, in an MG, to all of the above meets with the exception of 2007 (I missed the event) and this year (when I drove my 300ZX).

So you see...the events have not really been consistently held on the fringes of either of the coasts or borders, or in the midwest. I hope that you and others here on the BCF can make one of the upcoming events. They are FUN, you will see some great cars, make some new friends, and rekindle old friendships!

I have some hastily posted pics from concours on the club web site. There's one of each car and it's engine bay here:

You can click to open the Picasa album to get larger views and or download if you like. There wasn't much time for pictures between getting judged and the rain arriving!

Interesting discussion about location.

I'm still considering going to the annual TR meet in Detroit in August. Been to the one in Chicago, and one near Pittsburgh. So far, I haven't seen very much interest, and so I'm not sure if I'm going to make it. Always next year...

Tony, the Spridget wasn't an "annual" event - was it? May be a big difference in the attendance factor. Sort of a "once-in-a-lifetime thing, being the 50th anniversary and all.

I'd love to know more about the teardrop camper and the car towing it. Things such as the trailer weight, how far it was towed, any issues with the car (such as overheating, etc). That would be a fun, relatively inexpensive way to see the country - as long as it didn't kill your car!
