I almost posted that about a week ago when I saw it on their site for sale for $28,900. It'd definately be a cool car to own. It would round out Tony's collection (along with a Metro 6R4 and an RV8).... but I don't think he'd spend that much on one.

You know, someone could make a good living by spending a little time in the UK and importing "Kit" cars into the States. If I'm correct all you have to do is remove the engine and trans and ship them seperatly to be a Kit car.
Just think... New MG's, TVR's, Astons and Loti only Available in Europe on our American streets. The Big 3 car companys would have a kitten I bet. Probibly stop the ship at the harbor and try to throw the "TEA" overboard.

Yep, licensing and insurance are the issue...I've looked at it every way I can think of...ask your insurance company if there's a "line" for a particular car...& I'm not an insurance guy but I'm told that if a car isn't approved for the US, it can't be insured (or licensed)

Oh, I've talked with Wire Wheel....the ZT-T was MG's US test vehicle...when they went under, a guy in Michigan bought it & convinced Michigan that he had installed a Ford V8 in it (though he never did)...so they titled it as a "2006 Assembled" - not an MG....when Wire Wheel sells it, it sells on open paperwork from the guy in Michigan and they put their disclaimer on it that they are in no way liable....I've talked with them several times about the car...I know what works, what MG modified, what problems it has....&, in my daughter's & son-in-law's opinions (both are lawyers), the paperwork that titled it is "shady"....
Short of bringing it in as a kit car, I don't know how to do it...& I can bring a new MG-TF in and assemble it here in Alabama & title it - but not as an MG! & it gets insured as a homebuilt - not as an MG!

&, Jack, that's probably why they're not going through the title process in Florida (where the car is now located)!
In Alabama, since the car is titled out of state, it has to be inspected before an Alabama title would be issued...&, if that Ford V8 is not present, I couldn't get it titled....this is one of those "buyer beware" issues....thankfully, the guys at Wire Wheel are honest, above board businessmen & point out everything wrong with their cars including possible paperwork issues...I wouldn't have any problem doing business with them were I looking to buy
(Oh, they want to buy a 1600 MGA & an early steel dash MGB - in pristine condition - if anybody wants to sell one)

The Anniversary Model MGTF that we tried to get exported legally into the States before MG2006 has finally made it here. The government would NOT allow it to be licensed, though, and the owner must trailer it to and from meets, etc for use on private property only.
