Hi.am from Nicosia Cyprus. I own this YA for 40 years as it is in the picture. First registration 05-02-1949. Register as a station wagon. Dose any body knows if it was posible MG England ship frond body with naked rear side so a customer could motify it as station wagon/van/track ?

Welcome, and what a rare MG! Hopefully someone here can share some information with you.

Welcome and what a rare and beautiful car. I have never heard of MG exporting cars with an empty (naked?) rear side. I know that some countries (Australia?) imported cars a CKD (Complete Knock Down) - These cars came completely disassembled and were assembled in the country itself.

My guess is that for a country as small as Cyprus the car more likely was either purchased complete or perhaps was brought by someone in the armed services - and later it was converted.

Certainly an interesting and unique car.

i will agree that a CKD it was not posible for Cyprus. The strange for this car is that it was register as a station wagon and am trying to find out the history of this car. i dont know if it was un easy way by English low back then to aloud you convert a saloon car after the first registration or it corverder before registration! anyway iam probably the only owner of a YA station wagon.

I think you are indeed the only owner! and yes it is possible (maybe even likely) that it came as a station wagon.

It is also possible that what you have is a Morris Eight with an MG front. If I look at your picture you have a top mounted windshield wiper.

The YA had a bottom mounted wiper:

The Morris Eight (which the YA was based on) has a Top Mounted wiper:

I am sure there are YA registers and Morris registers - have you tried checking your VIN number to confirm the model?
