MG vs. Triumph Rivalry?

For clarification on my thoughts regarding a TR7-V8 vs. a TR8. It is like comparing a Cobra Kit car to a true Cobra. Sometimes they are nearly indistinguishable, sometimes the "copies" are even better than the original. But a TR8, like a Cobra, is defined by it's factory ID number, as well as it's components.

The first thing I heave learned to do is fess up as soon as someone ask, I tell them, it is a 7 with an 8 drive line dropped in it.. I never denied it, but I have TR8 decals on the car...

But(caveat here) Every possible piece from an 8 is on the car except the correct commission #.All taken from a doner and painstakingly exchanged.

Most use the V8 sticker/badge from a Land Rover/Range Rover.

Triumph's are superior - unless I'm in the GT!!
They don't wave back,but then I'm driving either
the Dakota,or the F250.

I was driving home from work in my TR4A and an MGA was driving towards me in the opposite direction. I waved (I know he saw me) but got no response. British cars are really becoming few and far between even in the DC area. What gives?

What gives is that you are making far too much of this event.

Possibilities include:
He didn't actually see you,
He forgot to wave,
He waved later, after you'd passed,
He waved too subtly for you to notice,
He'd already waved, before you noticed him,
He'd flashed his lights instead of waving,
He did the finger wave,
He was into the MG/Triumph battle,
Something happened that caused him to not let go of the wheel,
He didn't feel obligated to wave,
He's now the waving type,
He didn't know about the waving rule,
Etc.

Sometimes I wouldn't mind having a V8 badge on my TR8. I can't count how many times I've heard: "I know what a TR7 is but what is a TR8?" My usual response is that it's like a TR7 but it has a V8 from the factory instead of a four cylinder. Sometimes I think a simple TR7 V8 badging would answer those questions before they are asked.

Once at a stop light a guy yells down from a truck: "Is that a real TR8 Coupe?" When I confirmed that it was, he turned to his buddy and said, "That's a rare car amongst rare cars!" Then the light turned and we went our separate ways. I thought that was pretty cool though.

Sort of back on topic...

The other day I was driving through town in my TR8 with the windows down and the sunroof open. A motorcycle pulls out into the right lane in front of me (I was in the left lane). As I Pulled up even with him while he was accelerating to speed I see that it is an old Triumph Bonneville. He looks over and sees my wedge. Gives me a thumbs up as I give him a thumbs up. Two Triumphs side by side, one with four wheels, the other with two. One built in Meriden, the other in Canley. I thought that was pretty cool and different than most LBC sightings and meetings.

I think you might have to be an old guy to know about the waving rule, and who waves first.
Sprigets wave first to everything.
MG's to Triumphs.
Triumphs to AH.
And so on progressing up the price list chain.

In the TR3 I used to get a lot of "low waves" from the Harley guys, usually when a group of them were together. Not necessarily the clean shaven ones, but the ones you would never expect to look twice at a four wheeled vehicle.

I was forced to pull under an overpass in a torrential storm a few years ago. When I came to a stop, I realized there were about 20 Harleys in front of me. Several came over and checked out the car asking questions until the storm passed. There's common blood between old cars and old bikes.

The same group of people don't take notice of the TR6.
