My whole life passed before me this week as during the restoration of my 53 TD, I removed the identification plates and put them away for safe keeping. You got it, I forgot where that safe place was. I have since found. But this whole thing brougnt up a question. Can anyone tell me what all these series of nunbers are about? I understand the engine number and the car number but not the body number and such.

Thanks, Bill

Am I correct that my 53 TD should have a body number and separate chassis and engine numbers?

Steve, the larger of the two plates contain the engine# and car#. The smaller plate, which is also on a 53 TD has other information which I'm trying to find the meaning on. But a 53 TD I am fairly centain should both plates. I've been chatting with Dave DuBois who is a whole lot more knowledgable than me on this subject.
