When was the last year that steel dash MGBs were sold in the U.S.??

I really like the look of the steel dash compared to the padded ones. I think Tony started a thread on this recently.

Just wondering which MGBs had them . . .

Anyone?

'67?

Yep. 1967.

1968 brought the "Abingdon Pillow" padded dash.

Under the '68~69 the same dash is covered, IIRC.

Really?

Tony or Bob should know for certain which year they went to a totally different dash. The steel one continued in Europe for quite a while after they stopped importing it here, too.

Nope..there is no provision for the glove box on the Abingdon Pillow dashes.

The steel dash was never abandoned for UK cars. There were some changes made, but the basic design remained unchanged. Only North American models received the big pad-covered dash panels. If I recall correctly, these went into production in late '67 for sale in in the USA in '68.

Here in the US, the last steel dash car was '67...the '68 dash is completely different under the foam.

Converting a later car to a steel dash car is not something for the feint at heart to attempt! Its not just the dash you have to change.
