I need to remove some rust/corrosion along the top seam of the rear fender on my '68 GT. I was told to spring open the top of the fender, pull the bead out, then clean/prep/paint the surfaces before reassembling and doing a final paint.
Reaching into the rear fender thru the back hatch, I can feel the seam along the top of the fender, but there are no rivets/bolts/screws holding the pieces together. How are they held?
Also, the bead seems to be another crevice for corrosion to start. What kind of wrath would I be subject to if I left it out? I realize the fender would be a teensie bit narrower at the top of the tail light, but it doesn't seem to be that thick. Am I missing something?
Thanks
