WOW! As those of you who've visited my place can attest: there's not enough room to move around in my 2 parts buildings & the hoods of all my cars under sheds are loaded down with parts for which I have no room...well, until this weekend!
We're spending the whole, long weekend cleaning up & organizing....new shelves are built, small parts are catalogued in bins, larger parts are sorted on shelves...&, there's lots of junk on the side of the road for the trashman to pick up Tuesday!
Man, I've found stuff I'd forgotten I had....tomorrow we finish up in the metal building & tackle the wooden engine/tranny building! Heck, I've gotta move engines & transmissions out of it to get inside!
By week's end we hope to have all the loose parts off the hoods of all the cars under sheds & on shelves or in bins...
....Today, I could actually walk around in my metal building! &, I've found new bearings, exllent cams, chrome, electrical stuff, lights, new stuff, used stuff, rare stuff interior stuff etc....look out retirement...my inventory is almost under control again!
...now, I've gotta straighten out the truck load of parts I bought the other day....&, I just rediscovered the dozen new water pumps I bought a while back!
WOW! A pig in mud couldn't be happier than me!

Hey Tony,

If you found enough parts in there to build a Sunbeam Tiger from parts, let me know. I'm just itching to make one of those my next British sports car. Of course, I need to find a way to finish my '66 Mustang convertible first or my wife may divorce me. Oh, and let me know if you have any ideas on how to fit a 5-car garage on a 100' by 140' lot in the suburbs.

Steve

Don't crush 'em, restore 'em.

Steve, have you considered tearing the house down?

...and not a single opus distrubtor? lol

I found a couple of Opus' in a box full of distributoprs - just don't know if they work! Man, I'm amazed at all the parts I'm finding!

dont need a working one....just one to put my crane ignition in
cheers.gif

well, I found 2 this afternoon....will look them over tomorrow afternoon...the plastic on the boxes still looks solid, no cracks!

thanx

Tony, if you knew everything you had you'd have already retired. I'd settle for knowing what all I have. I may have to build my first parts shed this fall

chuck....I need a 10,000 square foot building full of shelves...Friday I didn't have any spare hold-downs, today I have 8....Friday my switch bin was almost empty...today it futll of stalk switches, dash switches - even ignition switches!
I'm like a kid at Christmas!

Thought about that today...one reason I'm using lots of plastic bins for small stuff - easy to move....I'll probably move everything except my personal collection when I get back from Alaska.

you need to find yourself an old warehouse that rents cheap. You need to see what Paul Oglesby is doin in Madisonville, and He needs more room too

After I leave your place, he's my next stop....problem right now is that I am renting a place to keep lots of my parts cars...I'm looking for property or an old building to buy...but, everybody thinks their land has gold on it! or that their old buildings are ready for historical recognition!

Chuck, you really do want to get me a divorce!

Alaska, Tony? Is that a hot spot for MGs? Or just salmon fishing?

Steve....."Once you've been to Alaska, you never ever come all the way back!"

Its my 'break-with-the-old-working-world-&-my-introduction-to-the-new-retired-world' trip.....figure the only way tocompletely change my lifestyle is 6-months o the road visiting the Pacific Northwest, Canada, & ALASKA!!! My favorite place anywhere: Homer, Alaska!

My wife would probably ask you if you know about these large transportation devices called "airplanes" that can get you there in hours instead of weeks.

She doesn't care too much for long road trips.

Ah, but getting there is half the fun...we're gonna leave end of March but not even get to Alaska till end of May! Lots of downtime along the way - week here, week there - to let all the stress leave our bodies...then, we're not gonna leave Alaska till end of July!

By the time we get to Alasak, our bodies will be on Alaska time! Flying gets you to Alaska on whatever stressful time you left!
