ok so I go for a spin, maybe 40 50 miles car runs great. I stop for s short bit, and it seems like the battery is dead (it is not) I wait 15 min, and the car starts right up.
New gear reduction starter, new battery, connections seem fine, and this is not a condition that always happens. I am going nuts here any help?
 
Any problems before the installation of the gear reduction starter?
 
Which distributor do you have? How's the condenser in it?

This might get a bit more visibility over on the Spridget Forum but we'll see if anybody over here diagnoses your problem before moving it.
 
I don't have a wiring diagram to refer to, but is there a relay in the circuit? If there is I'll bet it is going bad. I know there is such a relay in a B.
 
First, check timing ('cause it's easy). Advanced timing will give this problem. If the car cranks good with the igniton disabled, this is a sign of a timing problem.
Then: check the connections to the solonoid and then on to the starter...follow the path and see if you have any loose or corroded connections. And check your ground. I am not familiar with the geared starter...does it have a built-in solonoid? If not, see if your stock solonoid shows excess resistance.
Bad hot-starting can also come from bad coils and tight valve adjsutments, but this usually causes your car to spin and spin without catching.
