mg midget brakes

Hello, I have a 1974 mg midget that I have recently acquired. It is leaking break fluid from the back brakes. I am in the process of repairing them. I have one completed, the problem I have run into is that I cannot get the springs connected back on to the break pads. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions? Thanks, Tom

Tom, you posted your question in the forum meant for asking how to do things on the forum (like how to post pictures). I'm moving your post to the "Spridget" forum which is for discussing Healey Sprite and MG Midgets.

Tom, welcome to the boards, we're glad you are here. I've posted a link to the definitive brake picture (passenger side) because we've noticed that over the years many of our cars have got the pads upside down etc.

Assuming that everything is where it is supposed to be, what I did was put the springs in first and then put the pads in place in the notches for the adjuster below and the slave cylinder above.

Hope that helps

PS - if you are taking the hub off, don't forget that the nuts are "handed" left and right thread - don't ask me how I know.
