Mg Midget 1500 gas pedal broke

My gas pedal just broke while I was trying to bend it so it would pull the cable all the way on a weber carb-it has been opening about 3/4. Seemed like a good idea. Anyway two things-where do I get a new one-checked the usual catalogs-not clear on listings-Moss has one-I think(I will call Monday because I always get a error report on their site). I also would like one quickly because I cannot drive the car. Second question-the problem with the Weber-I need about 1/2 to 3/4 inch more pull, the rod on the pedal is weak. thanks Jim

Update-I was able to fix it with a copper pipe and solder. With this I also have a model for the next one as it is bent the correct amount. Going to buy a new /used one and bend it.? Jim

I did a DGV on my 1500:

1. Order a new throttle cable from Moss while your at it. It was slightly longer than my original one was. If I recall, the cable was $15.

2. I trimmed some of the sheathing (outer wrap) of the cable back (on the carburator side) about a 1/4 to 3/8" and then pressed the cable end back on- this left me with enough cable to get to the bracket while having some extra length of bare cable to get to the carburator.

I'll shoot a pic tomorrow morning and post.

Jim,

I've got the same setup... I didn't have to modify my pedal at all, just went down to my local bike shop and got a rear brake cable, and a throttle nut (hollow barrel and screw) from my local hardware store's Help! section. Cut to length and install. Allows full opening of the DGV.

HTH,
Duncan
