MG Midget 1275 rear oil seal.

While I have my engine apart I was considering doing the rear oil seal upgrade. Is it wort the cost involved? As I am unfamiliar with the oil leak habits of the 1275 engine I thought I would ask. Is there more than one upgrade kit?
I notice the area of the crank where the seal runs is not parallel but increases in diameter from the flywheel mounting diameter. Is that normal?
