MGA Metropolitan 1500 engine same as MGA???

I've got a chance to pick up a 1500 engine block that
came out of a Metropolitan. Looks just like the engine
that was in my MGA (long gone). Does anyone know if these
were identical? Hope to find another MGA someday, and
its always nice to have spares.

Different pistons, but basic block is pretty much the same. Sump, oil system etc. will have different details, so the only thing worth getting it for would be crank.

If you ever buy an MGA it will probably have an engine.....

I don't think the Metro engine had the tach drive machined out either.

True, but easy to have 3 holes drilled if you need to use the block (and have an MGA camshaft to go in it). Still not worth picking up IMHO.

I've got one here I've been trying to get rid of. Not many takers for A, or Magnette owners.
