This is factory panel fit on this rust free California MGA . The tub was stripped to bare metal ( it was OE white originally) and built on PPG's DP 40 LF epoxy primer. The panels will be all finished off so the car can be painted in pieces ( both sides) , then reassembled.

Get out in the shop !

A garbage truck had backed into this side of the car at one point caving in the front wing , door and rear tail section of the rear wing. The panels are in the block sanding stage.

I love the epoxy primers.

Will you put it back to OEW or going for the red??
 
Looking rather nice. If you have sanded through the epoxy, please apply another coat before spaying the colour.

Yes , anywhere you've cut through to bare metal or filler means another coat of epoxy to seal it. I'm just blocking and working the metal at this point. Busy driving the TC around to work on it lately !

Just spent the last few weeks finishing off the outer panels on the MGA with a coat of epoxy primer then a coat of primer surfacer for blocking. All the parts were sprayed off the car , then fit back together. Haven't decided on a color yet so it will have to sit like this for awhile. Meantime , I have put over 700 mi. on the TC this summer !

Have a question re. the rocker panels. Currently am at the point on my A where I'm fitting the new rocker panels (from Moss Motors) and have heard from others that they do not fit correctly as rec'vd (too tall). Your thoughts and recommendations?
Also is there any way that you could provide a close up photo of the rocker panels w the door open?

Mick, check out Eclectic Motor's rockers. They take the existing pressings you get from Moss, etc., and modify them to fit correctly. You can buy their pre-made rockers or send your Moss panels to them for reshaping.

Today I made templates of the Moss Motor rocker panels. Compared them for fit against a newly restored "A" and they seem quite close. However, since I've not done this before, (and do not want to do it twice) my plan is to take the advise of those with more experience and send my Moss parts to Crateparts for their modification.

With all the contours on an MGA, you've made yours BETTER than when it left Abingdon. Beautiful!
 
A tip of the hat and a pat on the back. Splendid! A LOT of work indeed. Your forearms, wrists, fingers and back must feel like you just flew in from the coast. Beautiful.

Yes, she's coming along splendidly! Keep us posted as this area is one of the hardest to get right (and therefore one of the most interesting as well! )
