Mesa Verde Trip

Mesa Verde Vacation:
The trip to Mesa Verde Colorado is well worth the investment in time. The Park is fantastic!
We also Took the tour to Silverton Colorado and Animas pass, both are late 1800`s mining community`s Silverton is still occupied by several hundred citizens where Animas Pass is a standing ghost town with no inhabitants. In the photos you will see the first house in Colorado with a bay window {so we were told by the guide} B.T.W. if you ever decide to do this tour my advice is DON`T! You can drive yourself and see just as much if not more. The train ride from Durango to Silverton is three and a half hours long one way and will give you a very thorough jostling around {not to mention the return trip}. We only rode that train one way back to Durango {thank the lord}.
On the return back to Utah we stopped in Moab Utah. On the road to Dead Horse Point from Moab there are Indian Petroglyphs, {Indian rock art if that isn`t spelled correctly} I took as many photos as I could { B.T.W. I am NOT a photographer nor have I ever claimed to be one lol} I did the best I could!
We also we to Arches National park. Where there are some very interesting rock formations { again, excuse the photography}
The Moab folder includes the Indian Petroglyphs and Arches National Park. Plus Hole in the Rock {tourist trap} gift shop. Where there is some interesting welded metal art, { the Jeep and the Bull.} The body of the jeep is constructed of various license plates.
Bear in mind some of these photos were taken from very long distances zoomed to the max with no tripod to steady the camera so some are little blurry So I`m sorry for that!

I spent 2 months in the summer of 1970 Jeeping my way
around Colorado. Silverton seems a lot more run down
in your photos. Durango was very interesting in 1970.

We certainly had the same guide because we were told;
"see the first house in Colorado with a bay window" {so we were told by the guide}

The guide dude must be over 100 years old by now.

Mesa Verde is a place I have promised to take Peg, but we did not get there during all our trips to Denver and Colorado Springs. Sounds like we need a road trip...
